This is a late reply but maybe it gives some illustration on the subject.

You have to compare what is better. It is way better being "solo" than being with a bunch of dorks, as long as you feel comfortable with it. It shows you are not insecure or thinking what others will say about you. Many groups of men go out all together and hang out with each others and that is usually perceive as very insecure, they don't dare to go alone or feel uncomfortable alone and that is what they project to others.

However, it is even better being with a hot girl than being "solo". It does not matter if that hot girls is your classmate, your sister, your friend or someone you just met. If you are with her, you are giving the impression you are interesting, otherwise she will not hang out with you. When you go out there and know nobody first impressions is all you have to begin with, so take care of it.

Those are ridiculous concerns. It's completely normal for a human being to go out alone. If you bump into someone they won't judge you for that. They probably won't even give it a second thought. If anything they'd be impressed by your independence, as long as you don't make it weird by thinking about this shit.

Think of it this way--and this will help you "warm up" too--you're not going out to seduce women. You're going out to meet people and make friends. Friends of all ages, shapes, sizes, and genders. You should chat it up with everyone so when you talk to someone you're interested in it won't feel like a big deal.
