Alright, I guess you could say I have been in the game for about a year now. Here are some things I have observed from my experiences.

1) never leave the house feeling not confident about your appearance. For me, this means I always have to wash my hair, and have a clean shave, otherwise I feel gross. Also, I tend to go for hard soled shoes now, unless with shorts. Overall, if you look good you feel good, and it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. When I look shitty, I eat shitty fattening foods. There have been countless times where I have seen a great chick but didn't want to approach because I was wearing sweats and a dirty ball cap, etc

2) If you're young, have a cool social media (twitter, instagram, etc) profile. Like it or not, that matters these days. This doesn't mean be a like-whore, but have a few nice pictures of you up. Keep in mind that girls often show a guys pictures to their friends to see if they think he is hot.

3) Be nice to everybody. It can be hard to see the benefit of being nice to the chubby nerdy girl in your class, but being a nice dude feels good and it will provide opportunities that you wouldn't have otherwise. Remember that most girls will have at least one hot friend.

4) Play your own game. In other words, don't try to be like the other guys who might be better than you at something. As they said in moneyball about the yankees, etc "if we try to play like them in here, we'll lose to them out there." I know that I am not going to be a 6'4 adonis, so I don't try to play on being the big macho man.

5) Don't try to fake your interests with a girl. Obviously it is good to have common ground, but girls actually like a guy who is her own person. For example, of course I will talk indie music with a girl who is into that, but I won't pretend that I'm not into sports, cars, rap, etc.

6) You shouldn't try to win a girl over by doing her favours. In high school I thought that giving a girl a ride, etc would improve her perception of me. NOPE. instead do stuff with no hidden intentions. However, this doesn't mean that you should be a cheap bastard either. Don't take her on a free first date, I think coffee is perfect. The most expensive drink at starbucks would be like $10 for 2, if that seems like too much you probably have too low of standards and are worrying too much about volume.

7) do cool stuff. A year ago, I was a typical college kid- minus the partying. I didn't get into that until second semester of my first year. Since then I have travelled a lot, did a running race (and did amazing), volunteered, joined clubs. All of this stuff has been amazing for me; I have built a bigger network of friends, I now have cool stuff to talk about, and most of all it has given me fulfillment.

These are just some of the things that I have noticed, feel free to input.
