OK, so now you know what's not working for you. Good. You do know that if you continue with that experiment sooner or later you would find a girl would would go for it, and make out with you within 11 seconds, the problem is... you'll be sorry (without going into details).

How about if you correct the experiment a bit...

...you were just so cute... there's one major problem here, you are paying her a gratuitous compliment, she didn't do anything to deserve it, but for something that she is. She's very used to it, and out you in the category of uninteresting people. Do not tell her that she's cure/pretty/etc... and you will stand out, a bit.
...you were just so cute... there's a second problem here, cute is not that sexual. cute is a word that you would use to a family member... a little girl... or grandma... if your goal is to make out with her, you need something that qualifies your intentions.

How about you reverse it all, and bring it up a notch or two, something along the lines:

you see a girl you are interested in, she's dancing
you are dancing too (girls who like to dance don't care much about guys who are wallflowers and don't dance)
you look at her casually not staring at her, at the same time you casually look at other girls as well. The ones that look back at you, you lock in the staring eyes, smile, then as you are dancing you are the first one to break the staring contest and you do something to show your social capital, like dancing with a female friend (not a stranger) or going back to the bar with a buddy.
once she's back from the dance floor, you approach her saying you look like someone it would be fun to make out with, but social norm requires us to get to know each other a but first. [pause here, let her digest what you just said] HI, my name is LeoDoesTheOpposite, I bet never in your wildest dreams you imagined that you and I were to meet tonight, right here, right now. [Pause, again] So, tell me, how good of a kisser are you? Or am I just wasting my time?

Smile, and be fun-cocky during the opening... pause for emphasis here and there..... see what happens. Take it from there.

Direct openers are most effective if she notices you have high value before you even engaged in an interaction. Like throwing a party and being the life of it.

If you approach directly without dhv then you'll possibly come off just like every other shmuck has said something about her looks in the first sentence of meeting her or worse case desperate.

I pretty much only open direct (although mostly in daygame), and here's what I've learned: direct only works in the moments when you truly believe that you are a fucking pimp. The moments when your inner foundation is SOLID, and you're just totally having fun for its own sake.

If you go in with even the tiniest bit of hesitation/doubt/self-consciousness; if she can sense for even a second that your directness is a lie, and you're just a boy playing a man's game, she will call you out and gut you on the dancefloor. If you say "Let's make out," to a girl you just met, you have to be honestly prepared to make out with her right then and there without the slightest hesitation.

Since it was your first attempt going direct, chances are you were subcommunicating nervousness in small ways. Maybe there was a little quiver in your voice, or you glanced aside for an instant instead of holding eye contact, or your shoulders were slightly hunched, or you hesitated for a brief second to see how she would respond to the opener instead of taking the interaction where YOU wanted it to go.

Keep experimenting with going direct. Think about modifying your opener (it seems a bit long to me, I try to keep my openers very short and to the point). Experiment with being even MORE bold and direct. Hell, one of my favorite openers is to just point at her with one arm and just say, "YOU." Most importantly, find the direct method that is most congruent to your personality. For some guys that's the "Hey, you're cute," line. Others will do better by picking her up and bouncing her up and down while giggling. Some might calmly stroll up and go in for a kiss. And some just grab her and say, "Come here now, slut!". Keep going out, find what works for you and report back here with your results.

Interesting. I feel like these two lines right after each other might be conflicting. The first is a typical line she probably hears all night from guys, kind of beta (for lack of a better word) for night game. Then the second is direct and hard hitting.

The majority of my instant make outs (2 min or less) usually I don't tell them or ask about making out. Usually I just go for the kill. Note: they haven't shown any IOI's a this point, but being assertive and bold has it's perks. Also success rate isn't super high. I can't count the number of times I go for the kill only to get the head turn, whereas I can easily count the number of times I've gotten the instakill.

Direct works, but in the club scene, it really depends on HOW you say it.

I find that when I am in state, later on in the night, after I have gotten into the social mood, am having fun dancing etc. I have a really fun attitude, and can easily stop a girl that walks by by putting my hand out, and pulling her in. If she complies, I tell her she is adorable, I hug her, eye contact, smile. I just did this this past weekend and within 10 seconds the thought popped in my head of kissing her, but I hesitated (lesson learned, mistake won't be made again). The attraction spike was so high it could have easily happened. She was on the way to the washroom so I missed my chance.

Direct works, but you have to say it right. Kino, eye contact, and your cute/adorable works much better than gorgeous/sexy for me, because all the other guys say that. Also, I have been doing this sober and my demeanor is much different from all the drunk guys going direct so that probably has something to do with why direct works well for me.

Either way, experiment, and find what is right for you. Key is to be flexible!

Direct works best on girls who are already attracted to you. Seen you from across the room etc. Otherwise you're just the next guy with enough tequila generated nutsack to ask her to bang.
