I think there are two philosophies, either make your profile super short without any real information, relying on it being so crazy / out there that girls will message you back and you attract them through attitude. This is casting a wide net by not including anything in profile that would filter women.

My approach is to make my profile extremely selective, and let women open me. Because once they do, I'm in and I know exactly what type of girl she is. This is much more of a targeted strike, because 98% of women may not want me after reading profile, but the 2% that do usually match my specific requirements very closely.

I always get number and a date setup after 2-3 messages max. I limit my first dates to about 45 minutes and just for drinks(go dutch) so I am only out $8-16. If they are good they'll go to like 1.5hr then bounce to another location, maybe 4hr before heading back to my place or at least making out.

I have met a bunch of people on OKCupid and think it is a lot of fun. I would caution to not expect too much, but everyone's experience is different.

What you are in for is meeting a bunch of people, most of whom will make their company enjoyable. As far as the site goes, its a complete numbers game, just message as many people you find interesting.

The expectations of women vary, but they did put their profile up on a dating website, so they are typically looking for something. As for your profile, make sure everything is spelled correctly. Anything you write I think will be fine. And take the best looking photos you have that have you doing something cool.

My profile is about 50% legitimate but somewhat vague information about me (what music I like, the fact that I'm thinking about grad school), and 50% stupid jokes. For the "What do you do on a Friday" question, I just talk about dissolving hookers in lye, and oddly enough, girls seem to love it the most. (If you manage to find my profile, please don't post it here).

Everybody says the photos are really important and I agree. That said, my moest recent photo is two years old. I've lost 20lbs since then and look much better, but I never like the way I look in photos, so I haven't replaced them. Probably that means that some girls that would otherwise be interested don't message me back, but I think it spikes attraction with the ones that do once I meet them.

My first message is usually some sort of joke about her profile. I called one girl a massive hipster and asked her to teach me. The goal is to just get her to look at my profile, and if she likes what she sees, she'll respond and then we'll chat for a bit and I'll escalate to ask for her number within a few messages.

In my experience, most of the girls on OKC are kind of lonely. Many are new to the city and genuinely want to meet people. My first date is usually go to a bar for some drinks and then invite her to my place after about an hour or so. All but one agreed when I suggested it.

I go on OKC once every few days. I respond to messages if I have any and then browse the recommendations for about 15 minutes. I send out anywhere from 0 to 10 short messages, and I usually get several responses a week. Many of them don't turn into dates though.
