Long story short - fallen in love once in my life, to a girl i was seeing for about 2-3 years. Was best friends with her before and it was amazing when we were together - one of the most unique people i've had the pleasure of meeting. Told me a year ago she was seeing someone else and we broke up. I knew that i could let the news destroy me, or i could bury it and move on with life, or i could use it to fuel myself when i was feeling demotivated. I chose the third option and spent the last year resolving things about myself that i hadn't done in 24 years.
spoke to her last night for the first time since, and she told me she's moving in with her boyfriend. Normally i would've let this news devastate me, as her boyfriend is someone quite famous and the blow to my self esteem even when i first heard it was substantial. However for the first time when i spoke to her, she didn't seem perfect to me. And it wasn't because i hadn't spoken to her in so long - it was because in the past i used to put her on a pedestal so much which led to feelings of worthlessness and inferiority towards myself, exacerbated especially when i found out who she was dating next.
But she didn't seem perfect because for the first time i had so much self respect for myself that I was genuinely happy for her. I'm proud of myself for having come along so far mentally.
SELF RESPECT and POSITIVE THINKING are two of the three biggest things I believe constitute 'game'. I've spent time with a lot of people who are good with girls and i've noticed these 2 things amongst all of them.
The third thing which i believe is the most important is HUMOUR. Having long term depression I find it hard to be humourous, possibly because my outlook on life used to be so dark. As i think more positively, i find that humour comes to me much easier. HUMOUR IS THE NO. 1 THING THAT WILL GET YOU PLACES. Whether it's in your job, with friends, with girls, with your family - if you can make people laugh, you're golden. And I believe that humour combined with self respect and positive thinking will take you far in life - and i'm working towards becoming that person so that one day I can come back and read this post and be like, i was so right :D
Things like charm, body language, tonality, timing and all these other factors are important, but secondary. They can be developed over time if you have the primary 3 qualities.
