Pretend to be a guest and then reveal yourself later in the conversation or leave it to someone else to reveal you. I used to do this sort of thing when I ran a society, start talking to the newcomers as if I was also a newcomer and then leave the scenario. Later they would come up and be like "WTF?! You're the president of the society?!" I'm there grinning because I love messing with people like this.

It also avoids the whole should I be humble or is that too beta or should I be more cocky or is that just bragging.

First of all your ratio is going to be whack. Guys who say they come will 9/10 times, girls who say they will have a 1/2 chance of actually showing up. No it doesn't matter how well you know them, how popular you are or who the girl is. I've thrown a lot of parties and the rule we ended up coming up with was invite three girls to every guy. That generally turns out a ratio around 1.5:1-2:1. I would recommend asking the girls you personally invited if they have any friends they'd like to bring, say you've got some single friends your trying to set up. Ask your most popular girls and give them each 2-4 plus ones, so you're inviting another 60+ odd girls. What will happen is 2/3 of the girls will bring a fat friend who is single to meet your single friends, as well as 2-3 average/hot friends.

When your ratio is good the rest of the party is a breeze. It will be an orgy. On any given night, less girls are down than guys, but the ratio will pre-select every guy there so they'll all have a great time. Plus shit is less likely to get broken, because there is no reason to drink to excess. Plus fights are less likely, plenty to go around. Plus the girls feel safer and have more fun because the event seems higher value and there is actually competition for once. Parties get boring for girls when it's a sausage fest with every chode throwing his mates under the bus.

If you have a shit ratio, fuck all you can do, chat to everyone and hope for the best. It's regular club game in this aspect and being the host may give you a very small advantage if any. You're looking at that now, with your likely turnout being around 30 girls and 70 guys. If it's got a good ratio (ie you invite another 60+ girls) then it will be ludicrously easy. You can just walk around the party and talk normally, it will come out that you're the host and suddenly you'll have girls throwing themselves at you because you look like a mad pimp for inviting all these girls. You can just say "I'll give you a tour of the house" or "I have a bottle of vodka in my room, want some shots?" and hook up with 3-4 girls EASY. You'll probably get the hottest down girl that night, because you'll have rock star status.

To get that though, you need a better than 1:1 ratio. It's probably easier to cull guys than it is invite that many girls. We used to spend a few hours on facebook every night in the wee leading up to the party and just spam message every hot girl we had on Facebook and ask if they wanted to come. Not the best odds but the ones who did come would always ask to bring a friend or three and we'd get a shitload of girls in attendance doing that.

Yes, the social proof will defy help, as long as you don't give off a cheesy agenda vibe (i.e. that you're just hosting with the sole intention of getting laid). Just say "hey I don't think we've met, I'm xyz, how are you enjoying the party?"

Will hosting a party help you with your game and help you pull one of the girls there? Absolutely.

Your social status will pretty much skyrocket since most of the people going already know you. Especially since it's from both guys and girls.

A good way to start a conversation is to just go up to almost everyone and shake their hand. Say hi to them, and say simple things like "hey, hows it going", "where you been at? and tease them a little. Just stay at each interaction for a few minutes and then just leave. You want to leave them wanting more from you.

Later throughout the night, expect girls to be fighting for your attention.

In my experience, when you're the one throwing the party, most of your attention is going to be focused on the party itself. Making sure you're collecting beer money or whatever, making sure there are drinks and that no one messes with whatever music or what not you have in place. Don't think of it like you're going to a party and that you're going to hit on girls. Just try to make it as fun as possible for everyone else. If it's your party most of the people there are going to know you and so they'll talk you up or say hi to you. If you are doing your job girls will take notice and approach you without you really having to go out of your way, and from there just talk them up a little but keep your attention fixed on the party.

My first thought is that a party with 70 guys and 35 girls can quickly turn into a party with 70 guys and 0 girls. Any way you can even out that ratio a bit?
