Yall are stuck on that it seems. So let me explain.

When a guy holds the door for others out of politeness (especially men and women both) that's a nice traditionally masculine bit of mindfulness. Nothing wrong with it.

When a guy can't back down from an insult and has to either go bigger and get the last word or start a fight about it, that's not really nice for anyone.

When men treat women like they should have a role in life and the man seeks to enforce that role through anything from violence to emotional abuse and harassment, it's not nice. Cut that shit out.

When men treat women like they can choose whatever role they want and maybe that role is compatible with you maybe it's not and you move on, it's nice. Then the housewife can be a damn housewife if she wants and find a husband who wants that. And the career DA can find a husband who wants to support functional alcoholism. To each their own.

Toxic masculinity is authoritarianism. When you think you have the right to tell others what to do in ways that infringe on what you hold as natural rights for yourself.

Toxic masculinity is dishonesty. Men who will lie to get what they want. Manipulate. Coerce.

Toxic masculinity is that weasley fuck at the back of the group in every movie who the other men are uncomfortable around but often don't stop from doing his shit. Toxic masculinity is Jonny 23 in Con Air when like ok the guys will stop him from raping her when it's going on right in front of them, but then just ignore him and leave him with access to her later and it's not even on their radar that...hey, this guy is totally GOING to rape the hot prison guard the second he has a chance.

Toxic masculinity is the guys who don't say shit when they know it's wrong because they worry there will be enough shady fucks in the audience to shout him down if he says anything.

Women love a strong dude who can build them a house.

Women don't love a dude who won't leave their house when they tell him to because he's been shitty and he hasn't given up on talking this around well enough to get laid tonight.
