I've heard this term get around a lot... "preselection", that a woman will find you more interesting if other women already find you interesting.

I've been told that if you want women, you should go out with one already, or go out with a group of female friends and present yourself as a clear man (not an effeminate/eunuch/gay buddy of theirs), or at the very least, wear a wedding band even if not married.

How true is this?

Is there such a thing as going too far with it? i,e, "I'm going to try to pick up girls, so I'm going to bring three 'friends' who clearly want to fuck me"
