This is nothing but a congruence test. She is trying to find out if you are really this cocky type of guy or if you are faking it. Put it this way: she wouldn't be testing you if she didn't think it was a trait worth testing for.

Figure out something to say to show you are not bothered by her questioning it, and show her this is who you really are. If you are not phased by it (or show no reaction to it) then you pass.

Of course, you may actually overly cocky - too much of it can be a bad thing (eg it may make you look like you're over compensating or covering up some flawed inner reality). Get second opinions from wings etc if you think this is the case... but don't rely on 2nd opinions from your targets.

Perhaps you are too cocky. There is a difference between true calm, cool, and collected confidence and putting on a front.

If that is not the case, then you have two possible solutions:

Find a girl that isn't such a waste of grey matter --knows what she wants and what is worth wanting.
Or you can say, "I'm not cocky. I'm awesome."

I'd probably just say "Never said I was humble" or something to that effect.

But, like other people have said, if you get called for this you probably did something wrong.
