Harder is attractive. It's polarizing, not predictable and boring. It makes them work for a goal, rather than have it easy.

Do you like videogames that are easy as fuck to complete? I can assure you that you prefer good challenges that make you feel satisfied to achieve.

Women as a network sometimes base their partnership on the potential of the person they are with. They screen through hundreds of men, all great people, but the potential isn't there. They see the man for who he could be, not what he is. He could be a lot more (to her) if he settled down her way. She's able to network and predict that outcome to some extent based on dating profiles and what ever other data is available to them.

What makes him not want to commit? Men have lost their potential and their future to problems that they never knew they'd encounter, sometimes as the result of a woman.

There's a bit of an ego challenge to the woman to get a guy who won't commit into a guy who will commit.

There's the social proof aspect of it (other girls want him, therefore he is attractive), which just puts a bigger target on his head.

This stupidity soon passes when she ends up as a single mother.

Off the top of my head:

The guy that has abundance doesn't need or want to settle down. There's the social proof aspect of men being more desirable if they already have/can get women. The thought that this guy must be special if a lot of girls want to be with him.

There's also the aspect of themselves feeling special if said guy chooses them to be exclusive with.

And there's also the challenge aspect of winning a guy over. It's not as fun or rewarding if it's easy.

Let me give you an analogy.

You are an employer and you are looking for top performing employees. You have a choice.

A. put ads on the internet, linked in, indeed, etc. and get flooded with resumes from people who spend their time polishing their resume and interview skills. These people will try to impress you, they will call every day asking for updates and telling you they are ready to start right away.

OR

B. Look for the employee who is already employed, who never sends a resume because he always has job offers from his network, etc. This guy has rarely if ever looked for a job, because his reputation precedes him. Everyone is trying to recruit him. When you reach out to him he is open to talking but not eager to change his situation and needs a lot of convincing to potentially join your company.

Who do you think makes a better candidate? Who do you think employers want more and are willing to pay more for? From personal experience I can tell it's candidate B. It works the exactly same way wjth women. The guy who is ready to commit and is pushy and aggressive is unappealing to them. They assume he lacks something if he is trying so hard to make something happen. If you need to be in a relationship, it means that you lack happiness and fulfillment in your life.

But if you are guy who is elusive, hard to pin down or get to commit, it can only be because you don't need those things. And guys who are not needy are hot.

Same reason as men may not really enjoy sleeping with women who are super easy to get.

The chase and such is something all humans enjoy
