I’ll try to keep this short & concise to the point.

I am the manager of a small(er) restaurant chain. My store is situated next to a nail salon, and there’s a woman there that I’m into. I have a sneaking suspicion she might like me too (but obviously don’t want to assume).

Every now and then she’ll come in and ask for some plastic silverware for her meals. Occasionally I’ll take it as an opportunity to playfully tease and say something like I’m gonna have to start charging you or whatever, and she’ll laugh a little.

Well today she went in to work early and I happened to be in the front of the store and saw her walk in, she looked in and we made brief eye contact. Maybe 20 mins later she came in (which she never does this early) and said she figured she would come in before we got busy. I asked her what she’s eating anyways (she NEVER comes in for food, only silverware), and she told me what she was having and expanded a little bit into her digestion problems. I acknowledged it and that was that.

I guess what I’m getting at with this is, if I’m sensing potential attraction with her, is it appropriate for me to try to escalate a bit and see if I can get her #, or leave the ball with her so to speak?

I’ve been in the position where I’ve been at work and asked for a woman’s number (and went on a date), but it wasn’t someone who A) worked right next door, B) I wasn’t the manager of the establishment, and C) knew I wasn’t gonna be seeing her on any regularly consistent basis as a customer.

So that’s why I’m asking for some insight. I’ll probably just continue having small conversations and try to get to know her a little bit and see if something develops from there, but I’m curious to know what you guys think.
