Why do people lose interest when you show them your interest?

It's about having a good balance. Showing too much interest gives away the ending of the story.

We want a thrill and some excitement. We want to know it's possible to be with someone, but it's not a guarantee.

Showing interest is a must obviously, but we don't want to give our interest the impression they have us locked.

This is what push/pull is all about.

They don't feel they've earned the level of interest you're giving them. It just implies things that repel people. I found it's not being interested or not, it's liking yourself more or not. Valuing yourself more or not. Be excited about yourself, your life and share it with others, don't make others the focus of your attention. Then when you're really eager and passionate about someone it won't come across as you needing their validation, you needing them to like you back and feeling bad if they don't, in other words

Nothing wrong with showing interest. But you have to be able to show you can walk away. Blowing up their phone is not going to get you anywhere.

It’s like telling them your putting them on pedestal which boosts their ego, hence disregarding who you are and what you have to say. You can always reverse this by doing the same. ( see lyrics Eminem survival )

Because it is not honest interest. You show intellectual interest and it leads you to friendzone. Naturally you must show sexual interest and flirt to escalate game. Not intellectial interest like "What do you do?", "What does your mother do?", "What does your father do?" and so on like that.

This used to drive me crazy when I was younger. Woman would pursue me right until I was 'on the hook', at which point they seemed to immediately lose interest. And if I told them off, they got interested again!

In a nutshell, women want what they can't have. It's better to walk away then to chase. Don't seem needy and they will chase you.
