Going from being infatuated with someone to being happy that someone else has gotten with the said person is a big step. Especially if they really like that person. This takes time and space, therefore, I'd advise giving it a week or so and buying your friend a drink as its obvious they mean something to you if you're bothered by this reaction

Well. Me and my wings have a rule:

Someone who opens, that person will choose. So when he chooses I back off. And when I choose he back offs.

So in your situation, I guess the first person who talks with that girl has a priority.

But that's just my rule. You with your friends can have other rules. The most important thing in any kind of relationship is COMMUNICATION. Next time talk with your pals about this stuff, so that you avoid this kind of situation and loose friends.

With there being such a huge amount of people in this world, I dont see any reason for me to chase after a girl that is taken, my friend is interested in or exes of friends. I value my relationships with friends too much.

It could be jealousy by your friends or to them your actions show you are disloyal.

Opinion of someone who ended up second best.

First I didn't know there was a competition. Normally my guy or I would would stay away if we felt one liked the girl.

Second. Play your own game. If you mainpulate your friend to partake in your game without clear intentions, that's when they become salty. In my experience, the relationship with the girl you get in such a scenario will not last, unless you love her as the one. You ended up satisfying just your lust and potentially losing your friend and what could have meant something big for your friend!
