Through total happenstance I met a guy in my improv class who is part of the community. We grabbed some food after class and had a frank, open discussion about game. It was pretty awesome - none of my friends are into this stuff, and when I try to explain things to them, or help them out, they are never interested. We've decided to go out and see how well we work together.

I've never had a wingman before, and I've never really had to be a wingman, so I'm wanting to make sure my head is in the right place when we go out. He's also very receptive to suggestions and constructive criticism, so I'm sure we can have a candid discussion about winging for each other before and after we go out.

I did a search and there is some information on this topic, but I thought it'd be good to try to establish a definitive guide to winging.

So:

  • What do you do to be a good wingman?
  • What traits or qualities do you think make for a good wingman?
  • How do you handle situations where you both are interested in the same girl, or the girl is interested in the other guy?
  • Any other important factors?
