Funny that I found this... I was just about to write some questions regarding Aspergers to the Seduction community but wanted to search first to see if stuff have already been mentioned. Anyways I was diagnosed with Aspergers in High School and probably always came out as either a creep or very weird person to most girls. I have always had a difficult time communicating what I want to say and always would blank out in conversations. I have been reading Seddit for a few months now and I have seen improvement in my socializing and talking to girls even though I haven't even reached first base with them.

There are many things that Seddit has taught me that have helped me with. First off I had very low confidence with my social skills and the things I say. Seddit has taught me to simply not give a fuck and if I fuck up I will never see them again. This has helped me ease my anxiety and I don't have a social phobia like I used to. I still sometimes will have a hard time articulating myself as much as I want but I see an improvement.

Another thing that has helped me is threading. It has kept me on track to make more relevant conversations and not drift into other topics. It has also helped me not blank out when talking which used to be a huge problem. I can actually be more fluid when talking.

The other thing it has helped me with is Theory of Mind. This means that I have a hard time picking up social cues and what they feel at the time. Thanks to Seddit I have a better understanding of when a girl is flirting and what she is thinking.

I still have some problems with AA and also just going out more(since I am friends with mostly SAPs). But I am hoping one day to be able to at least get a girl. I think the only things really holding me back is my social skills. I keep myself in good shape, and watch my hygiene. Seddit has gone a long way in helping me and I hope to continue to develop my social skills with them and socializing more. Also if there are any other Aspies out there give me a pm, we can help each other out through our journey.

My Letter [with expansion]:

I am formally diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. I'm not sure where I am on the spectrum, but most people think I'm a little quirky but fun to be around. I never had a huge cadre of friends, just the standard loyal 3-7 people who would phase in and out of life. As an example of my credential of Autism I am unusually sensitive to light and sound. While first learning Pick Up I would go to a local club but quickly learned that that setting is not good for me. The amount of light sound and lack of space caused me to go into a panic attack. I have served as a counselor for a camp for kids with special needs and I display symptoms. I have only seen there. I texted my friends urgently telling them I needed to go home. I sat outside on a bench telling myself not to freak out while rocking back and forth. I'm certain a few people where looking at me thinking I was having a bad trip or something like that. Repeated exposure to this environment showed it is indeed the club setting that locks me down within an hour if the club is busy. My senior prom we had a strobe light at the dance. I vomited because the flickering was too much. Clubs aren't my thing. I wanted to show that I'm not just 'awkward' and show that I really do have AS. I didn't take an internet test ant it's a pet peeve of mine.

Now for the good news. As of last year I lost my virginity [EDIT: Damn 2012. I lost it spring 2010] . I went on several dates with the main problem not being that women find me uninteresting, but that school and work take up too much time to devote to dating and I've since put that aspect on hold for now. I've met a woman in a coffee shop, took her to a park, made out with her, and then had dinner all within a few hours. I would have never had this experience otherwise. My friends have noted I have increased my charisma both with them and strangers. I've impressed a friend of mine and woo'd women who I later found out had turned him down. I've found I have the confidence and ability to impress strangers in coffee shops and bookstores. Under the name KarmaKaiser I've reported some of my success in the reddit seduction community. Some of the useful concepts from the seduction community I've absorbed and found useful in include:

Demography for Fun and Profit:

An aspie by their nature is a niche product. There is a subset of women who find them interesting and and like their analytic nature. Most find obsessive interest off putting when it is applied to activities of low status (programming) but deep and interesting when it is something of high status (art). Targeting those who are likely to find the aspie sexy and interesting is a better tactic that courting mass appeal. Analytic, intelligent women tend not to advertise themselves as such since mathematics is culturally discouraged among females in America. There are, however traits that are seen with a high probability among intelligent attractive women. Juggler, aka Wayne Elise recommends assuming when asking questions both as a way to make conversations more interesting and as a filter for traits that are desirous to the Pick Up Artist. An example he uses is "What kind of art to you make?" A high percentage of intelligent women signal themselves as creative by having artistic hobbies. Identifying traits common among intelligence high status women gives a heuristic for finding them. Women read more fiction than men therefore it is useful to be up to date on what books are currently trending so that you can hold a conversation about them, for example. Another common trait seems to be knitting, I haven't seen an analysis of this or been able to perform enough tests to confirm or dis-confirm it though.

DNGAF:

PUA's are commonly extorted to "not give a fuck" what anyone thinks of them. I think this advise is immensely helpful but jumps the gun too much. I believe the evidence is in favor of a model of humans that is always looking at others for social guidance and cues, no matter what. Rather I'd replace it with a model that says "Only care about the opinions of those worth caring about." I would care about the opinions of an evolutionary psychologist concerning psychology. I would not care about the opinions of a creationist concerning biology.

Yes I know this is long I posted a TL;DR on the bottom if you want the brief version of it

My Letter:

Hi I noticed a post on Seddit linking your original post. I absolutely love telling others about how far I’ve come and how much studying social behaviors can help quirky introverted guys get out there and make friends. I tried to make my story as brief as possible but my history is a bit… crazy (than again whose isn’t?) so I included the very basics of it all.

I was formally diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome just before leaving Highschool (so I could receive the benefits of ODSP) - of course there were suspicions way before than but I was never "formally" tested. My history is a bit of a wreck, a story of a very frustrated boy growing up with parents who didn't know how to handle him.

A very long story short I reached the rock bottom of my life when I was hypersomnic, sleeping 18 hours day, waking up at 12:00 AM when everybody was asleep and going to bed at 6:00 AM so I wouldn’t have to interact with any of my family.

When this first started I needed to find a way to kill the time, I had recently become obsessed with a very complicated, traditional, Asian board game called “Go” also known as Baduk or Wei Chi. For the first month or so I would spend those nights studying this board game. Finally I reached my goal of attaining the rank of “Shodan” which correlates to being a very good amateur player.

When I finally reached the goal of shodan I needed something else to do and so I turned to movies to kill time. I started systematically watching movies from IMDB’s top 250. When I exhausted all the recent movies on the list (1990’s and up). I started turning to documentaries, namely physics and math documentaries to start. When I ran out of physics documentaries I started watching documentaries on psychology and beginning to take an interest in analyzing human behaviors.

Eventually I stumbled across the SIRC Guide to Flirting and SO MUCH of my confusion with interacting with others seemed to be cleared up – or at least make more sense. I started to look up more and more on how to interact with others until my obsession with Go switched to an obsession of becoming extremely charismatic and be surrounded by friends.

After about 4 months of this hypersomnic life style I started to change. I would pull all nighters to stay awake and go to school the next day and than sleep for ridiculous amounts of time after – it wasn’t healthy but it started getting me back out into society (and let me pass grade 10).

Then I got my first bike and everything changed, I started riding my bike and noticed a change in my body. I started becoming a serious cyclist and noticed the weight practically dropping off. I used to weigh 215 and within a year I weighed 160.

Than a request I had made about a year or so ago at that time to be sent to a group home was processed and went through. I was taken away from my parents and put in a group home and forced to interact and talk to other people I didn’t like at all. I couldn't stand them, so I relied on faking my interest in their conversations by using the body language techniques I had been learning. I went to a new school and started building a new definition of myself. I started getting more serious about becoming super charismatic and reading about how to interpret eye movements, body mirroring, arm positions, tonality of voice, context of situations etc. etc.

Grade 11 was a little rough, but by Grade 12 I had become an extremely popular kid in school known for being a “genius” (not really deserved but nevertheless was given to me anyways) and being extremely funny. I had obviously by the end of high school gotten fairly good at "the game" since the date I asked out for prom turned down 4 other guys before she said yes to me. I made such a big name for myself that this year (my second year in university) people a year behind who went to the same high school and now the same university as me approached me and said they knew who I was, despite me having no clue who they were.

However in first year of university I realized something. I was extremely good at making friends but could never seduce anyone. The most action I had ever got was making out with a girl when we were both drunk on St. Patrick’s Day that year.

Than this last summer I started to do more research again on social interactions and such, meditated on these concepts a bit, had a few epiphanies and decided the only thing I was lacking was acting with noticeable intent to others. I had all the friendly and seducing traits people just had to know I was using them. I realized people like knowing they are being seduced and that I had to be more assertive to get what I wanted.

The semester of this year was ridiculous, I for the first time started going out on dates - lots of dates, getting into physical relationships with pretty girls, at the end I hooked up with a girl at a party. My friends started commenting on just how many interactions I was having with women and for the first time I started to really feel sexually attractive.

Studying and analyzing human interactions was what got me set down the right road, it gave me the motivation to succeed in life and the tools to do it. I only hope that this academic initiative that is being taken will help other Aspies learn that human interaction is fun and at a certain point becomes super easy and I really hope this can be of help.

TL; DR

TL; DR: In Grade 10 I weighed 215 lbs slept 18 hours a day and obsessed over a board game

For 4 months of Gr 10 I started building a cultural knowledge base by watching movies and than psychology documentaries and eventually moved on to journal articles about human interactions (Notably SIRC’s Guide to Flirting)

I moved out of my house into a group home in Gr11 and went to a new school. I used this place as a testing ground for how to become charismatic and popular By Gr12 I had high school all figured out and was very popular

I went to university and realize I didn’t have it all figured out

I thought about it, went back to the human interaction literature and decided I lacked the ability to be assertive with other people and decided to change that

Rocked the first semester of second year of university socially

In Closing If you actually read the whole thing, bravo, please feel free to ask any questions. In Short: Pick-Up techniques can completely change an Autistic’s perspective on life and make them extremely high functioning.

I have been clinically diagnosed with 'Asperger's' when I was 16, I'm 22 now and have assimilated socially just fine. After I became aware of all the socially awkward behaviors I developed, they disappeared. I honestly think it's fake.

I haven't been clinically diagnosed because I don't see any value in validating the staggeringly obvious about myself, so I probably wouldn't be of much use to this study, but it may still be useful for Aspies to discuss right here in Seddit what methods or approaches will and won't work for us -- not just for Aspies, but also of probable benefit to other guys because (as Cambridge psych prof. and autism specialist Simon Baron-Cohen has written), the autistoid brain is an extreme version of the Systematizing brain type most common in males (whereas the Empathizing brain type is most common in females). What works for Aspies will probably be of some value for most guys, whereas what may work for most guys may not work for Aspies (and this is what I find most frustrating about the PUA scene and Seddit).

I have Asperger's syndrome. Along with that, I have a bachelors in economics; an MBA; a good job; and a nice car. HOWEVER, I have had the worst luck with picking up women.

One of my favorite techniques is to try to hang out with a more extroverted guy. I'm not bad at picking up women; what I am bad at is starting the conversation (and I feel really awkward).

However, if you're going to do this, you need to know one thing: encourage the guy to talk to 2-3 women. Once he breaks the ice, you're home free because most of us have really interesting things to say.

Or you could do what I did the last time I visited my brother in college: buy 2 kegs and throw a party. You will get some if you do it right (aka buy the beer and let the "cool guys" set the party up.

I'm benevolent about this; I would prefer if the pick-up industry was not revealed to the main stream anymore than it currently is.
