Guys- believe that I have finally reached the point of no return. Married 20 years. Three great kids and no infidelity on either side. We just don’t get along and the woman that I still love has made it an intolerable situation to the point where it does not make sense to continue on in the relationship.

Currently 52 years old. $3 million in assets with roughly $2M of that in home equity. Little to no debt outside of a mortgage. Wife currently does not work.

3 children with the the youngest being 13. The oldest graduates high school this year. As such, I have time as I do not want to do anything until she leaves for college - roughly 12 months from now.

I’m not looking to put my STBX in a bad situation, but at the same time, I’ve worked really hard the past 30 years to put myself in a good spot and do not want to give things away that I do not have to. After all, it’s been her choice to continue to act in such a manner that it does not make sense for us to stay together despite my best efforts to keep us together.

If you had 12 months of pre-planning and did not want to do anything outside of put yourself in the best situation possible while still being fair, what would you suggest doing? I have already begun investing in myself through working out and therapy.
