Ok. So if I file for divorce my attorney cannot set a specified time for discovery?

If you have assets from before the marriage, start tracking down proof of that. Submit it in discovery. Otherwise a few years back. My experience was that it’s just running up legal fees and drama. Except for proving what was yours when you entered the marriage, or that you had premarital assets that weren’t commingled.

No fault is kind of standard these days. But how far they dig into your finances is really up to the opposing council. Generally it's only a few years that's relevant, to show income and that you weren't hiding assets.

There is no time limit and your compliance is completely voluntary. In fact I suggest all men say that its impossible to get any financial info due to stress and let the wife's side try and attempt forced disclosure of assets
