I'm on year 6 and counting. It can take a long time it the other party is disagreeable. Sounds like you have an open and shut case, but hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

They are contemplating how to ask for more $$$$ and screw you over is best guess. Start thinking about leverage to counter. For example what has she done that she never ever wants her parents to find out.
Or she thought she can keep the ring. Nope we sell them and split the proceeds. You want play games for dollars, will I am all In. Maybe this will shut her down??? If you give in on one deal they may decide to kept asking.

Yeah I’m on 4 months and same situation as you. Just depends on how corporative she is. For me, all she has to do is sign a form and that’s it. I’m praying we both get the best outcome

There’s not a pat, standard answer. Varies state-by-state and by country. California has a mandatory 6-month “cooling off” period. My judgment was signed off by my spouse and approved by the court at about month 7. I agreed to a settlement payout spread over 18 months.

No kids in my case, which made things simpler. Also depends on how contentious or agreeable your spouse is. In my case, we came to an agreement pretty quickly, because I think we were both motivated to wrap things up and move on.

WA state, no kids. Filed Feb 1 and in this state issued court date 11mo later on Jan 3rd. Need to sell house. I wanted to in May-June (would have gotten $1.6M+) she refused to even talk about. Now sort of willing, but still dragging shit out and realtor suggests listing at $1.3M, but I'll take anything over $1.2M or best offer in 2-4wks period (economy is already in toilet, just waiting for the flush).

If she is truly disagreeable shit can go for a long long time. I likely will have to wait until the court date to finish this BS. But even then can request continuance, file useless motions for additional discovery or evaluation of assets. How about a false abuse claim. etc. etc.

In my case I suspect that she wants to remain in the home for as long as possible (which makes sense and is her legal right). Because once this is over, she is taking a massive hit to her lifestyle. She was already wasted ~$400k of potential wealth :) Will see what happens...
