I saw something on FDS previously which has really helped me take control of interruptions. Here's what it is for those who missed it:

When a walking meat cylinder interrupts you mid-speech, let them rant on until they're done. After which, say "I was not done speaking" (or the equivalent) and pick up where you left off. The key here is to completely ignore everything the belly button lint said and go about your original dialogue. Don't bring up any of their points! Just carry on. It puts them in their place really fast. #triedandtested 💅🏼

Okay small slightly related rant, feel free to downvote but I know there's got to be some old school feminists here that will hear me. Also I'm not coming at OP, she probably didn't write the tweet.

As anyone aware of basic science knows, non-binary is not biologically valid, its just a category of people that didn't feel stereotypically feminine as a woman or stereotypically masculine as men invented to escape societal gender roles. As a radfem I dont believe gender roles define a person's biological sex and therefore are not "real" in the sense that being masculine or feminine does not make someone male or female. It really pisses me off to see people making "non-binary" a category so they don't have to fix the real problem: which is women feeling the need to change their entire sex identity to escape the gender-role box society pushes them into. It's just internalized misogyny, and it bothers me to see it validated as another sex that men oppress.

Men oppress WOMEN, no other sex. Gender is not real. While I agree that feminine or GNC males are bullied by their fellow men, I'm not going to lump that into the same category as the systemic oppression of females. I'm not giving the floor to a 3rd gender that doesn't exist. I'm convinced this is just another way that patriarchy is distracting from women's voices. Of course, women who identify as non-binary are still women who are suffering from internalized misogyny, but we are focusing on them in the wrong way. Thats just my thoughts because I'm sure there's got to be other women here who see through this whole non-binary thing that's been popular lately. It's okay to be a masculine woman or a feminine man. Feminist have been saying this for decades. But it's not another category and it shouldn't be taking the conversation up from women.

Yup. I teach my boys that they're not allowed to interrupt when a woman is speaking.
