My ex hated going to a car repair shop because she thought they were all trying to cheat her. They weren’t, she just couldn’t understand the explanation. So you would get these absolutely retarded situations where our 8 year old son would be talking to the mechanics for her — which was great for him because they would show him what they were doing and explain what was going on. He loved it.
Now he’s graduated college and moved away and she’s back to hating mechanics.

Take them to a workshop that does those kinds of jobs, you are less likely to be screwed if you just take components to be fixed. I can't/don't do everything on my own that is impractical. It is hard to not notice a botched job at such a low level. For instance I needed a drive shaft to be shortened because it came from a later car model and was longer. I asked the guy who did the work to spin it up on his lathe to ensure that it was well balanced. Only then I paid him. Never had any issues for the last 5 years.

When I was around eight years old, I watched the mechanic do something wrong on mother's car — her response?: "oh, he's only eight don't mind him."
Then, when Daddy got home, I told him what I saw and he immediately went out and fixed it. Not much else positive to say, but even the worst of fathers appreciate good advice. Love ya, Mom!

One of my worst fears, if my hair is caught on something, what if my head comes in after? It's like those videos where a guy's shirt gets caught on a roller machine thing and his entire body is flattened as its pulled in after. Not a good way to go.
Even if I "only" have shoulder length hair, if I'm going near something moving, it's secure.
