What he is missing, well there is a good chance she is getting her needs met somewhere else, allthough he is 99% that is not the case. Leaving that aside in my mind there are two other options.

The husband when they met did made her want to have sex with him, he might have had some things she found attractive and therefore was eager to be with him, but the in the living paradox that is women she then broke him down into a good little provider. Just look at the guy being all affectionate with helping out more and being supportive and already saying he is with her for the long haul. She trained him well (even though she inadvertenly turned him into something she does not want to have sex with ever). So the thing he is missing is that he is doubleing down on behavior that his wife finds sexually disgusting. No pride, wanting to go to counseling, not treatining to leave ect. So if he wants to get back in sexual favour with his wife so to speak, he needs to do a 180 degree turn. Become less attentive, but confrontational, and show her that he is tired of this shit test and that he is a men. Most likely he will not be able to pull it off since he has been beaten down into a shell of a man. And if he somehow does there is a good chance the ship has sailed and he will be hit with divorce pappers and abuse claims.
He was always a men she did not find physically attractive, but though well he is a good provider and stuff so why not. If you look at the ages of their childeren and how long they have been married it is quiet possible they started dating when she was closing in on the wall. Now that she got everything locked down, a traind man, childeren to secure that he stays without sex, she does not have to have sex with a man she is not attracted to anymore. Here the husband can only cut his losses.

Both options are terrible, but what can you do its a story as old as time.

There's a young guy at work I discussed this with. If his marriage falls apart, she'll get the kid and 100% of the marital assets, including house and car. Some studies actually state married men are happier. I have noticed that they include divorced men as single men. If someone chooses to get married, he doesn't know if he will get divorced. And those divorced men will be unhappy, which will drag down the 'happiness' of the single men. The methodology is biased.
