That's not inherently a problem. Nursing, for example, is majority women and most of the managers are likely to be women. Boasting about it might be a sign of problems though.

You’re right that there’s >>90% chance something is wrong with this picture but there’s a difference between equal opportunity and equity that I want to try to make sure doesn’t get lost.

Equal opportunity looks at all applicants and promotional candidates and picks the best qualified and is able to ignore any potential biases (like how lady justice is blindfolded because she’s supposed to be impartial). I’m in favor of this approach.

Unfortunately people who try to do this get accused unfairly of being discriminatory or biased. If a big company wants to hire 10 new grads and 90% with that major are men, you should be able to hire 9 men and one woman with no questions asked but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I can see some equity in very limited circumstances like handicap parking. If a wheelchair-bound applicant for an office job is the best candidate, making some modifications to a cubicle for them seems reasonable rather than just hire the next best applicant.

It’s really gone off the rails now though where it seems to be “hire and promote as many women as possible even if they aren't the best candidate by a large margin”

I only work with 2 other guys where I work, all the managers are women. There's about 12 people so I guess that's 75% too

Without context this really isn't saying much. It could be an office of 10 people. Plus many professions are dominated by one gender. For the same reason an engineering firm may be dominated by men, an HR firm might be dominated by women. As long as they're giving the same opportunity to each candidate and hiring the person that is most qualified regardless of gender. It might be that 70%of the time that person is a woman.

Equal opportunity employment is merit-based by design. Many believe that it means equal numbers of race, sex, religion, etc, will be hired, however, it only outlines that potential employees cannot be subject to discrimination according to race, sex, religion, etc.

I used to work for an it consulting company that was "women owned". The guy who actually owned the business openly bragged about his wife's name being on the company so he could get preferential contracts. His wife didn't even have an office

The 1/3rd of men will do all the work for the company, and if the company ends up succeeding, it will mark itself as "girl power". It's essentially like video games where you have to do all the work and carry your noob teammates and in the end, the noobs end up taking credit for the win. But in this case, the women will probably take all the credit for the work done by the men, as it identifies jtself as a "women-majority company", since people will look at it as a women's company from the outside.

If it were perfectly 50m/50f, it's most likely not an equal opportunity employer. If it's 70m/30f it might be it might not. If that's flipped? Still. Might be, might not.

For the managerial positions... 70% are women and 75% of those are managerial? So... 52.5% of their workforce is made of managers...? Not counting any possibility of male managers?

This company sounds kinda... well, fake tbh
