I would like to add that a sizeable portion of this porn depicts rape of their favorite male actors.

And that's not even to start with the fanfiction... which is pathologically obsessed with rape. I mean seriously, you get more rape in fanfiction than you do in Susan Brownmiller.

I don't think I really understand what the problem is meant to have been here.

Not being a member of 4chan all I can say is that from their past behaviours typically they're MO seems to be to no operate how people would expect them, or perhaps, want them to.

If it seemed she was deliberately goading them for a reaction then perhaps they sought not to fan the flames?

If people wanted to organise them to attack her perhaps they saw it as a fight they didn't want to take up?

Who honestly gives a shit?

Because 4chan's reaction to anything means what, exactly? It's a board full of anonymous posters, some of which can actually just be one person responding to themselves. Citing 4chan's reaction to anything means nothing because nothing is being tracked and everything just winds up getting deleted anyway... which is demonstrative of every comment's worth there.

I don't think that 4chan whiteknighted Sarkeesian. I think that Sarkeesian used 4chan as described. She knew that if she poked it, she'd get a bunch of messages informing her that they hope that slenderman raped her while he made her watch The Grifter in bed beside Perfection Girl. And that's what happened. Then she moved on and 4chan got distracted. Rinse and repeat every now and again. There is also a contingent of people who use 4chan that are SRSers and AMRers who do the same.

But did actual 4channers whiteknight Sarkeesian? Nah. I doubt it. They did what they usually do. Rabidly snap at any meat waved in front of their face until a bigger, riper, piece came along.

This is unseemly and makes this subreddit look petty, or at least that its priorities are seriously out of alignment. One of the major sources of credibility for the MRM is that it doesn't need grasp at straws, make implausible arguments, or exaggerate small problems in advancing its agenda.

Feminism relies on faulty statistics and wildly overstated claims in order to make its case that women continue to be subjugated and oppressed. The MRM doesn't need to resort to this brand of speculative conjecture and hyperbole; the evidence is already on its side.

From homelessness, to incarceration, to violent crime, to reproductive rights, to workplace fatalities, men account for the vast majority of the victims of most every social ill. Yet the majority of resources and assistance are reserved for the exclusive benefit of women. The evidence of this is overwhelming, so much so that the only possible response from ideological opponents is failed attempts at humor, ineffective sarcasm, shrieking demands to shut up, or fire alarms pulled in the hopes of keeping it all swept under the rug.

With this post, we run the risk of telling the rest of reddit that video game tropes, and the self-promotion of one transparently obvious fraud, are more important to us than the boys whose behavior is pathologized and who are systematically discriminated against in a school system that is less equipped or inclined to address their educational needs each year, the young men forced to pay child support to their rapists, the male programmers whose livelihoods are sacrificed on the altar of feminism's unquenchable outrage, the male college students expelled after proceedings in a kangaroo court designed to maximize punishment and minimize the right of innocent men to defend themselves, and the fathers summarily banished from their homes and their children by a court system politically conditioned to prefer the certainty of destroying a man's life to the possibility that a woman might be "abused."

These problems are the very real consequences of the ideological imbalance that created the MRM, and these men are the very causalties who need someone to advocate for them. Arguing about the content of video games and the agitprop of Anita Sarkeesian and the antics of 4chan detracts from those efforts at best, and delegitimizes them at worst. Any one of them is infinitely more deserving of a stickied post than this issue.

How the hell was the hate directed against her "[not] really all that bad"?? Her Wikipedia article was vandalized with pornographic images and references. She was emailed drawings of her being raped by video game characters. People tried to hack her social network accounts, and her website was subjected to a DDoS attack. Somebody even made a video game where players could punch her face until it was beaten and bloody. How many threats of violence, rape, and death does someone need to receive before it counts as a "scorched earth" campaign of harassment?
