While this is technically correct, the pressing issues we face are far more damaging and insidious than just "gender norms".

Genital mutilation, forced parenthood, lack of educational and healthcare resources, the social acceptability of misandry, homelessness, suicide, drug and alcohol addiction, war, criminal violence, the list goes on but men suffer more in all of these things than women and should be what we focus on in our non-politically biased efforts.

While your effort is correct, it really misses the more important problems we need to address. It's a little soft, tbh.

Appreciate the effort, but this is too soft and ignores much bigger issues, like systemic misandry, gynocentrism, and gender disparities in outcomes throughout society. It reads like “controlled opposition” language.

An elevator pitch about the MRM shouldn’t immediately center women. It’s too vague and focused on norms.

Instead, I’d focus on how laws, institutions, and norms all actively discriminate against men and in favor of women, driving many of the disparities in outcomes that disadvantage men, and the importance of ensuring equal rights for all.

Here's what I came up with: "Misandry is a pervasive problem that society has not only been dismissing, but encouraging."

I know there is way more to that in the Men's rights movement, but this is an Elevator Pitch which is short. After the listener gets hooked, you can continue to discuss other aspects of MR with them.

Here's mine:

Everyone has human rights
Human Rights need protecting
Therefore we need to protect men's human rights.

The only disagreements people have made to this is from people who don't believe in human rights.

Some people object by saying that men's rights are already protected, but that means they are agreeing with the argument and disagree about how much protection men's rights needs. My response to their line of reasoning is that even if men's rights are fully protected their is no guarantee that this will continue and we would need to be vigilant to ensure men's rights do not get violated.

I respect your effort but I agree w this comment’s sentiments, and that is also not nearly brief enough for an elevator pitch. You can shorten it a bit to serve the purpose of an at a glance explanation, all this current version does is invite open-ended questions imo

Let's get real here. Any men's issues are going to be gaslit and dismissed, unless we have overwhelming, unequivocal evidence of the observations we see first hand.

My proposed solution:

we make a central site online, with all the legit sources, and facts.
link to it every time we have a discussion about it, with anyone we're debating.

But, the harsh reality is... those that care, are working hard to make it in life in general. Therefore don't have the time to pour into that site. The ones that have the time, don't really care much.

So, things won't really change in this regards, because no one is working together.

your pitch is a pitch for feminism. it is feminists who want to create a space where men can be emotional and “softer” and to do away with gender roles. of course there are shitty women who enforce these gender roles but they are mostly upheld by other men socially punishing each other for not being “man” enough. and the women who enforce these gender roles are for the most part conservative, not feminist. for example the women on social media claiming they need a rich strong provider man are mostly trad wives and conservatives. feminists want men to be free to cry

Agreed, and good idea.

Some standout thoughts:

...Despite clear evidence showing:

men are not immune from [unfair treatment on the basis of sex or gender]

...So we get organized around needs that are real and widespread and still unmet but also intentionally excluded by others: men's rights.

Always good to have a few good factual points at hand, eg, - rates of MGM vs FGM, despite institutions like the UN explicitly formally recognizing the issue preferentially on based on sex rather than prevalence or other impacts

explicit policies which selectively criminalize specifically based on sex (eg, selective service in the US)
laws defined to give preference on the basis of sex (eg, US state rape laws that qualify victims on the basis of sex rather than on outcomes or risks or circumstances)
policies explicitly discriminating eligibility on the basis of sex or gender, even when the favored category already outperforms clearly in the targeted area (like department of education grants specifically for students of the group already grossly outperforming per that agency's own data)
worth rechecking recent data for differences in public health spending that could exacerbate existing disparities

It's an exercise for the reader to grab details for these

Of course there's room for "softer" points like the depiction of one group in media, or research headlines addressing disparities of treatment in the court room or classroom, or anecdotes, etc.

Anyway, the elevator pitch sounds like a great idea. Crisp, plain and truthful win the day.
