In 1908 most "lunatic" men were never allowed to vote. Now some states those in short term mental hospitals can vote by mail. Currently in Maine twice the public rejected a referendum to allow people under guardianship to vote.

Some of the earliest feminists were proponents of eugenics.

Example A: Marie Stopes, who advocated for compulsory sterilization for those she thought were unfit to be parents.

Example B: Victoria Woodhull, who stated "A perfect humanity must come of perfect children.”

Yep. You read that correctly. One thing that early feminists had in common with Nazis: Eugenics beliefs.

Lunatic is a technical term for the day, bizarrely enough.

White slave owner is a reference to class discord, what you'd now see as 'sweat shops'. It's not racist, you'd see it used in low level political speeches of the time.

The 'unfit for service' is interesting, it implies that a man's value is tied up with the provider role.

Otherwise it's a typical suffragette poster of the time.

Really demonstrates the original aims (most people would agree with) and the cluster it has become. '

Love that it says proprietor of white slaves. Yet in today's world it's taught there were no white slaves. Typical lies. My Irish ancestors were brought here as slaves.
