All-women's college cancels 'Vagina Monologues' because it's not feminist enough

If it's true that the Vagina Monologues is anti-trans and says some weird stuff about race and homosexuality, then it is a perfectly good idea to choose to perform a different play instead. I can't say I'm familiar with the play, so I can't judge their decision.

Even if it's not true, who cares. They can produce whatever play they want to. It certainly has nothing to do with men's rights, or men at all, so I don't know why this story was posted in here.

I will say that I find it interesting that an all-women's college, which this decision being made purely by women, is facing at an accusation of misogyny. The women running the production decided to go with a different play this year... so clearly they must be anti-woman. Certain women seem ready to toss out accusations of misogyny virtually any time they don't get exactly what they want, regardless of whether it makes any sense.

They didn't cancel it because it's "not feminist" they cancelled it due to the exclusive nature of the show. The show does not feature men who are raped, men who identify as women who are raped, trans men/women, gender-fluid, or homosexuality. I think the decision is the right one and one that we should support.

I actually think it's ridiculous that other students are pissed off because the show is attempting to be more inclusive. That should be the headline here.

The structure of the show actually would lend better to the addition of another monologue or two rather than stopping the show. Why not get a student to write a monologue about being a woman without having a vagina? It could come right at the end of the performance and it would be a nice sort of ending from what I know about the show. I mean, the show has many monologues and you can reorder them and eliminate them and add in other ones. That's how it's supposed to be. Why not just write a new one to go in the school's production?
