A perfect example of a female abuser.

The article should be used in his divorce, if he'd divorce her:

I yelled at my husband last night. Not pick-up-your-socks yell. Not how-could-you-ignore-that-red-light yell. This was real yelling. This was 30 minutes of from-the-gut yelling. Triggered by a small, thoughtless, dismissive, annoyed, patronizing comment. Really small. A micro-wave that triggered a hurricane. I blew. Hard and fast. And it terrified me. I’m still terrified by what I felt and what I said. I am almost 70 years old. I am a grandmother. Yet in that roiling moment, screaming at my husband as if he represented every clueless male on the planet (and I every angry woman of 2018), I announced that I hate all men and wish all men were dead. If one of my grandchildren yelled something that ridiculous, I’d have to stifle a laugh.

So she yelled at him for 30 minutes and this is okay?

"I announced that I hate all men and wish all men were dead."

As my rage rushed through the streets of my mind, toppling every memory of every good thing my husband has ever done (and there are scores of memories), I said the meanest thing I’ve ever said to him: Don’t you dare sit there and sympathetically promise to change. Don’t say you will stop yourself before you blurt out some impatient, annoyed, controlling remark. No, I said, you can’t change. You are unable to change. You don’t have the skills and you won’t do it. You, I said, are one of the good men. You respect women, you believe in women, you like women, you don’t hit women or rape women or in any way abuse women. You have applauded and funded feminism for a half-century. You are one of the good men. And you cannot change. You can listen all you want, but that will not create one iota of change.

She hates her husband for what he is: supportive and loving. Remember that. There's no respect there.

or just don't get married at all.

[–]superhobo666 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'd rather do meth than marriage. At least with Meth you know what kind of hell ypu are getting yourself into.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

When you quit meth and it takes half your shit, at least your still left with some good memories.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Meth poisons your soul. When you hear someone rented out their toddler for drugs it might have been heroin, but was probably meth.

Plenty of men marry feminists and are happy. Marriages succeed or fail on personality and other factors much more than ideology. There are plenty of couples with differing political views.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Don't be a doormat to your partner. It's not right to just get yelled at because they can't handle themselves.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Really making a a strong case that she's a rational person whose thoughts are worth reading, isn't she?

[–]v573v 17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She’s exhibiting controlling behaviour and publicly ridiculing her husband while complaining that the worst of men exhibit controlling behaviour and redicule women publicly.

"Thank you for not falsely accusing us or trying to gold dig us, all you good women. But it's not enough."

[–]Alx1775 18 points19 points20 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lovely. The WaPo celebrates domestic abuse. Switch genders and people would be calling the police.

[–]GTFonMF31 points 7 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

That poor man. To be married to that.

[–]Thor1138 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good to see the WaPo is trivializing domestic abuse. Guess it doesn't matter when it's a woman abusing a man, describing in an entire passage how she mistreats her supportive husband.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It’s never enough.

[–]Vwar 20 points21 points22 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Literally. That's probably where the princess and the pea fable came from.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A metaphor for hysteria.

I don't know why any man would stay around and be treated like this.

[–]superhobo666 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably too spineless to do better.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

All the history you can eat though...

I have a low tolerance for being ranted at, that was disturbing to read. But it was presented as extraordinary behavior.
Some people melt down occasionally. It would bother me a lot but isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, and some guys are much more stoic.

If you know it isn't actually personal it is a lot easier to take. My otherwise lovely wife would slip into stereotypical 2nd wave manhating feminism when triggered by some things, it didn't bother me too much because I recognised it as a defense mechanism going back to sudden total abandonment by her father as a young girl, and being raised by her mother who was then bitter and untrusting of men.

[–]M_a_t_t_y 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Weird article by the author. It was a random rant. Curious how that is material good enough to be published in wapo.

[–]notacrackheadofficer 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

''Every whisker on his face pointed out of him like an erect rapist's penis, thrusting into the air that I was forced to breathe, as if the Prana I learned about in yoga class was just a huge vagina for men to rape at will.''

[–]antilopes 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a brilliantly accurate description. I have experienced this.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wapo hates men.

[–]antilopes -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because it wasn't random, it is topical.

[–]M_a_t_t_y 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The event that lead to the article is relevant. I am confused by the message from the author, I found it be random and unclear. As such, I was also unclear why Wapo published it.

[–]Wisemanner 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have to say I am quite surprised by most of the comments on this article. There are still quite a few American males with spines, it seems; the war is not yet lost.

[–]lowsodiummonkey 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Imagine being married to that for 50 years. The guy is probably a shell of a human being. Surprised he’s not dead.

[–]superhobo666 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah from my experience nothing is ever good enough for most women.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It sounds like somebody who's getting insane and being dazed and confused - and projecting the sentiments toward somebody she has learned to despise. Hopefully, her husband uses the opportunity and gets a divorce before he must take care of a feminist monster who has always hated him.

It's nice when the mainstream media publishes anti-feminist stuff - perhaps without knowing it. Or perhaps they knew exactly what they were doing.
