The interesting thing in Germany is the "Straßenverkehrsordnung" (the law) does not feature women parking spaces. Now pretty often when you find these parking places you are on private ground and pretty often people there put up signs saying "Hier gilt die Straßenverkehrsordnung" (the law applies here) which pretty much render the women's parking spaces useless. "Oh you are complaining about me parking here, can you show me the place women's parking spaces are defined in the law?"

Ah well...to report some good, I have seen some "Mother and Child" parking places here being changed to "family parking places", maybe we are heading in the right direction after all......and maybe not. Time will tell.

This article was also posted in 2xChromosones. What's ironic is that most of the comments there seem to be agreeing that this is sexism, while most of the comments here are downplaying it.

Really, a lot of the commenters in here want to say the author is complaining too much, or blowing it out of proportion, or that it's minor compared to certain injustices that women face. None of these things, however, change the fact that it is sexism and thus wrong.

That reads like a satire. Nothing says male privilege like getting mad over a parking space rather than the fact that women are assaulted so often that this idea is entertained at all. Disgusting.
