The main argument behind women being morally okay to have an abortion is because they don’t define it as murder until the baby is born. Fine. Her body her rules. She is not morally responsible for the death of a fetus until it is born.

This means that moral responsibility doesn’t begin until birth. What this also means is that women are not morally responsible at conception.

Men are held accountable for their children because their sperm merged with a female egg at conception. If it is entirely a woman’s control over what happens to that fertilized egg afterwards, that means that it is technically “her body” and therefore not the father’s child.

Because it is her body and not the father’s child, the father can’t hold the mother responsible for killing his child/fetus. This means that fatherhood doesn’t actually begin until birth. If the father is not present and does not claim fatherhood, that means that fatherhood never started.

You can’t retroactively hold the father accountable at conception because of ownership of his sperm, then remove ownership of the fertilized egg without the consent of the father and then give it completely to the mother while the baby develops, then give back ownership to the father once the baby is born. Either he had ownership at conception, or he claims ownership at birth.

This means that if a father doesn’t want to be father, he is only held responsible if he declares he’s the father at birth. This is because if he isn’t there and doesn’t claim fatherhood, but is considered the father anyways, that would mean he is actually held responsible at conception. This would also mean he can hold the mother responsible for murdering his jointly owned fetus/baby.
