So it seems like once you accept responsibility for a child you are legally recognized as a parent regardless of actual paternity.

And frankly I'm okay with that, you shouldn't be able to abandon children you are raising.

However paternity fraud is a real problem and I would like to hear your solutions. My ideas are below.

  • Encourage men & destigmatize paternity testing (with a temporary window to contest paternity)

  • Have civil and legal recourse to discourage paternity fraud.

  • Legally require paternity testing to fill out a birth certificate.

DNA paternity testing can be performed profitably for 10$, it should be used much more frequently.
