Don't worry, it's nobody here lol, the dude is from TikTok... But I just wanted to share a disappointing experience I've had with MRAs off of reddit. This is a LONG one, so buckle up lol.

So, I met this guy on TikTok because we seemed to have similar tastes in music and politics, and eventually he told me he was part of the MRM. At the time I didn't know this was even a movement! But I've always been against radical feminism and men's issues getting ignored, so I was glad to hear it existed and jumped on board. A couple months went by and we frequently shared videos and posts regarding the MRM and stuff about feminism, and a bunch of his friends from the movement followed me too.

Fast forward a few more months, and suddenly the topic of his conversations shifted. It become more personal conversation, which was fine, but it started getting a little too personal. He started talking about how he was considering putting himself in a psych ward due to mental health issues he was having. I was sympathetic, but I just started getting the feeling that something was off.

A week or two later, he asked for my Facebook. Now, I already had him on Snapchat, TikTok and Discord, so I didnt really see the need to add him on yet another platform. But more importantly, my Facebook has personal information as well as pictures of me, and I wasn't comfortable with sharing that since I knew almost nothing about him.

After I told him no, he launched into a three-screens-long rant about how I must be abused by my parents, because otherwise why would I be uncomfortable sharing information about myself... Then he called me paranoid, and started talking about how "I'm a grown woman and shouldn't be so afraid of opening up". Then -- and this is the worst part -- he accused me of secretly being a feminist, and how I'm "part of the problem with women nowadays"...

Needless to say I was a little freaked out by that change of attitude, and I blocked him. I thought that would be the end of him, but TikTok has a habit of automatically unblocking people you blocked before, so after almost six months of silence, he commented on one of my videos. Saying how he felt "betrayed" that I blocked him and how I was "just like all the other women" and how he never should've trusted me in the first place.

I tried to calmly explain the situation and how uncomfortable it made me feel. I told him that he was free to follow and comment on my videos, but that I would not be allowing him to DM me on any platform. This made him angry and he launched into ANOTHER rant... This one was much nastier with accusations of being a paranoid psychopath, telling me I should seek therapy, saying I "only call out feminists because I'm afraid of being discovered for the fraud I am" etc etc...

After this I basically said screw it, deleted all his comments, blocked him again and this time I'll be sure he stays blocked. I was disgusted by this behavior from a fellow MRA, but it hasn't dissuaded me at all from the movement itself. I'm just a little more wary of the people I allow to directly contact me from now on.
