I've noticed that there is a human tendency to feel superior to someone if the sexual market values you as being more sexually attractive than him or her; and this feeling of sexual superiority can sometimes trump all other relative evaluations. This dynamic of feeling superior applies to men and women, but perhaps more to women for various reasons.
In particular, if you realize someone is attracted to you, and you are not attracted to them, the feeling of overall superiority is greatly heightened. Given the female gender advantage in sexual leverage, this aspect of the phenomenon applies more often to women.
To what extent do you feel this phenomenon is real? And if so, how can we counter it? It seems that in an age where female sexual selectivity is going to be less repressed, and perhaps even amplified, that a critical aspect of helping sexless men adapt is to aid them in not putting all their self-esteem in their sexual attractiveness (or lack thereof).
But this will be difficult if people who are more sexually attractive than such men feel innately superior, despite whatever other qualities the sexless men have. It seems inevitable that if one feels superior, it will leak into behavior and be recognized for what it is by others.
