Welcome to RPW! I'm 20 and fairly new to this community as well and can relate. I have a lot of friends who are very left wing. That being said, I don't share my full views with them, but I do share a watered down version. Harsh backlash vs respectfully disagreeing is the difference of if you should find new friends. Do you have any other people in your life who would be accepting of your views? For me, my mother and aunt have similar views so I talk with them about my beliefs.

Be wary of friends who don't accept you for who you are. I have friends who make choices or have views that I don't agree with, but I still accept them for who they are.

what do you study? i would say seek out women that gravitate towards care work like daycare, nanny, education, social work, ect. or fields that result in a flexible schedule (education (summers off) or nursing/medical but not drs (4x10s instead of full weeks ect.) because those things attract more women who are seeking to become moms someday, which will then help you sift through for more traditional minded women (because obviously not all women who want kids are traditional)

Full text: Hi everyone! New to this community. So I'm 18 and going into my second year in university and I'm having trouble finding likeminded community that shares my values. I go to a liberal school in a very liberal minded city and can't seem to find girl friends that have the same mindset as I do. Whenever I express my more traditional values like men paying on dates I get a lot of backlash from my friends. Should I keep it a secret in real life, cause that's what I've been leaning towards or should I try to find a separate group of girl friends to discuss with about these matters?

I went to a hyper liberal school and now work in a left leaning field.

Re: discussing your views - I always ask myself if I truly think any good will come from sharing my views. If I think it will stir the pot and cause drama, I keep it to myself. If I feel the person will actually have a conducive, and productive conversation, then I'll share.

More often than not, this was not the case in college, but I did find some people.

There are still some pros! Being surrounded by so many people with polar opposite views completely strengthened my own beliefs. I was forced to question my "why" and really dig down into what I wanted out my life.

I left college more confident in my beliefs and this has gone a long way. I eventually found like-minded community. It was even more refreshing to see so many people out there right alongside us!

Keep in mind college itself is SUCH a bubble. I made sure to consume content that aligned with my views in my free time (podcasts while walking to class, working out, etc). Some days I needed the reminder that despite what my classmates may have said, my views weren't all that "crazy".
