His friend, who he calls his "BFF" (which is extremely feminine for a person his age), is older, smells better and just does something that gets his girlfriend off. She gets off to it to the point where she is willing to break up with this goober to immediately be with his "BFF."

It never really matters who starts it, but the fact that she would continue it says a lot. You can point fingers at people and say they started it, but you can't deny the fact that two people continued it.

In this case though, the guy has low hanging fruit as friends if they can't find targets other than the ones closest to them.

There are some decent comments in there when you look past the top few parent comments.

If she cared for you and loved you as much as she claims, she wouldn't have pursued your friend as long as she did. If he was really your friend, he would have dropped her like a hot tamale and called you the moment it happened. Sounds like they both suck, and you'd do best finding better people to devote your time to.

And this guy goes into some good detail about exactly why his girlfriend is very much at fault here (even if his friend didn't act perfectly, her actions were far worse):

Holy Monkey Balls! This was testing the waters to see if he felt the same way about her. I'd bet a year's salary that if your friend had said "Let's make those dreams come true." she would have been all over him in a heartbeat.

The odd ball, is that the messages are spread over several months.

Since your friend did not instantly shoot her down and tell you, she kept testing the waters to try and get something going.

And that's game over. I don't see how you could have an ounce of respect for her if you stay.
BTW, your "friend" is an asshole too. He should have forwarded the first text to you. Instead, he does this whole quasi-cheating thing with your GF for months.

Who cares who started it or the exact sequence. Just the messages your "friend" showed you inform you quite decisively that you can't trust either of them.

This exact same thing happened with me once, a friends girlfriend starting doing the exact same thing, but instead of showing him the messages, i took his girlfriend. Sad thing was shes really boring, and it made me kind of regret it afterwards.
