I see a lot of backlash on chivalry, or in simpler words, "being a gentleman".

While I do get where many commenters come from, I would draw the line on two types of chivalry. One comes from a place of masculine power, the other from a place of neediness/approval-seeking.

In my own personal experience, I can say that the type of game I run, a mix of being a funny asshole, deep conversationalist/listener, with a dash of chivalry has gotten me quite a lot of success.

There are some things I do that are my adjustments to modern times though. Don't be the one to pay for both of you. At first, we each pay our own shit. Once we're in a relationship or at least fwb's I'll pay sometimes, she'll pay sometimes, but always more or less even. Also, slowly introduce the chivalry. I usually just open doors, sometimes if we're already involved I'll do a bit more protective things.

I've gotten positive feedback from women about this. I would like to point out the ideal man isn't full on alpha DT or whatever, but a good mix of alpha with beta, the proportion depending on the woman. Alpha and Beta are just two ends of a spectrum of traits.

Something that has to be clarified is that how the man performs the actions plays a large effect on how the woman will perceive them. When it comes from a place of power, the message perceived by the woman is "I'm a wild man, but I also have a gentle side". When it is from a place of neediness it's more like "Please like me look at the things I'm doing for you".
