Preventative dread game - ie passive dread game - is the most powerful. Active dread game is responsive, it's reactive. You realized you lost or are in danger of losing control, so you have to give her an explicit reminder that she could lose you should she continue. But she's already started up some kind of undesirable path - losing respect, straying emotionally, getting lazy in the bedroom / gym, or whatever it may be.

It's so much better if you curb that without actually having to pay attention it. Just create an environment that's hostile to complacency, entitled laziness, and disregard / disrespect of your leadership.

It's simple - she must always know her place, and her place is replaceable. If you actually have to constantly "put her in her place" and it becomes this back and forth whack-a-mole, that means you're not in control, and she doesn't actually respect the dread enough, or you're becoming equally replaceable to her.

The best dread must be holistic. You have to actually be the guy who's getting hit on at the office by your secretary, you have to actually be the guy who her best friend wants to bang, and totally would if you moved on from her. You have to make it clear that you're not going to tolerate any disrespect, and if she's not putting in effort into staying fit and sexy, you'll find someone who is. Make it known that your attention comes when she's being feminine / sexual / sweet / submissive, and your attention abruptly leaves when she's not.

Go "to the gym" at random times. Vary the length of time. "I was out".

When she goes into meltdown, occasionally prove you were where you said you were. But not always.

Flirt heavily with the waitress when your LTR isn't looking... then she flirts back when she is.

Tip the bar staff to encourage them to be "friendly".

Sometimes be utterly unavailable for extended periods of time. Especially in the evenings.

As OP says... never quite confirm or deny what you're up to. Always pass off female attention as "she's just being friendly" / "of course she doesn't have a thing for me" / "you're safe, she's married... at least she was till recently".

If you want to take it to the next level... accidentally drop lipstick out of your pocket, arrange work girls to call you back in the evening ("oh it's no trouble, I'll probably be working anyway"), work social media to your advantage (eg being super nice to women to get them to reciprocate on your facebook page a bit, if that's your thing).

There's a million ways to imply that you have tonnes of options. She's paranoid.... basically all you have to do is be attractive and never quite put her mind at rest.

If you think this is manipulative... the alternative is a sexless dead bedroom.

Good post, OP; this is an important principle that is often botched by men in established relationships who are newly unplugging. Dread game is a power tool; one can do much more harm than good if they wield it like a chainsaw at full throttle.

The correct way is to improve yourself to the point where women spontaneously admire and flirt with you. It works best with least chance of backfiring when it is organic. Trying to force it bluntly and crudely will definitely backfire, especially if your partner doesn't see your SMV as high and/or rising.

Effective dread game is NOT blatantly initiating flirting with cashiers and waitresses. That only makes you look like a cad or asshole, and NOT in the good way.

For more detail, look for the article about 12 levels of dread. You want to apply the minimum amount needed to achieve the desired result in the context at hand, without going over that.

Brilliant. A lot of guys here claim they don't give a fuck about losing their plates or LTR so they go into overdrive with the dread shit and when they push her away they come here crying AWALT, which I'm not saying is not true, but if they had only been smarter about their dread game and been more implicit they could have kept her around and both parties would of been happy.

Take a Yoga class that you know is full of a lot of attractive women. Be a regular dude there. When you start the class put yourself in a position where most of them can see you. Even if you aren't a top 10% so as long as you aren't fat or disgusting women will take glances. Works even better if you show up with her.

I'm guilty of frequently making this mistake. I project how I'd react in this situation onto the woman, and admit to having other dates.
