For millennia we were led into believing the the goal of human life is to eventually enter a nuclear monogamous relationship in which the woman is rid of any sort of anxiety so she could dedicate herself fully and exclusively to raising the children.
That's why we marry.

So I'll give you the blue pill answer because this is why people get married.

The woman will just sit on her ass for a few years, then divorce you and take your house, kids, and child support.

Yea, marry the right woman and you won't have to worry about that.

Marriage builds family and its a great way to raise kids. If you don't marry you also won't be seen as a loser who can't find a good wife. Or you're just a immature brat that wants to live like a playboy his entire life, still going to clubs picking up women in his 40s trying to be the popular kids back in high school. People like you need to grow up and get married and act like a man. Not some creep or hard ass living the bachelor lifestyle at age 40+.

You not getting married means you're going to die alone. And not by laying in your death bed alone. I mean when you're 50 years older and all your friends and siblings have families, you're going to spend the next 30 years alone. Going hiking and taking vacation trips ALONE. Have a fun miserable life you unmarried loser.

Generations before you had kids and now you're DNA won't get passed on.

Now imagine people telling you this all through your 20s and especially your 30s. By 30 it will beat you down until you want to get married.

Well for me, it was a legal decision. I have two kids with a woman outside of my native country. In order to have any legal rights over the kids whatsoever, I had to sign a marriage certificate. Other than these special cases, there are not many good reasons.

Because marriage worked well in order to build societies. Now works well for (old) women. And because many men think that is the thing to do. Maybe I will marry,but only to have children and with a woman with traits I want including have money.

Legal, financial, and social reasons. More beneficial to raise kids as a married couple.

Marriage use to be supported by religion and government and men took on a huge responsibility but were compensated by taking on a dowry and all of her future wealth and output. Google 'coverture' laws for more on this. Both men and women were highly encourage to stick together (even in cases of abuse) and highly discouraged to divorce. Let's look at a little snap shot of a divorce in like 1930 or even 1830: In most religions you'd be excommunicated from the church (male or female) and if you were a female you'd be ostracized socially. Women would shame you and wouldn't want you near their children or husbands.

Fast forward to our hyper capitalistic 2017. Coverture has been legally dismantled. Divorce is very profitable for everyone involved (except for the man). Divorce lawyers, government agencies, police, self help/therapy industry, child care, etc. Men are being leached on in modern society, women/children/gov are completely dependent on male productivity and we are just bending over and taking it in our worn out assholes.

I think it's perspective. The only people I know who don't believe in marriage have separated parents. Where as most of my friends' parents have been together for 30 years or so.

divorce rates r actually at all time lows

50% of the population finds marriage to work out

so yeah i think monogamy is not for everyone
