About six months ago I'm out with my buddy and he approached a couple of girls. I walked up few minutes later and joined the conversation. One of the girls says, "you guys are together?" because I guess she had just realized we were friends.

I said, "well no, we're not together together" and there was a nervous laugh.

Well, the exact same thing happened last night. Only this time, I leaned in close and said, "yeah, but I'm cheating on him."

I don't know if there's a name for that, but that kind of joke got a much better response from the girls. I think the first one is both a little defensive, as though I'm so insecure with my sexuality that I have correct every innocent remark, and douchey, as though I making fun of her. The second response is playful and confident. That's my analysis of it anyway.

I had a good time and wanted to share.
