Sometimes, usually when i'm approaching a group of girls as opposed to just a girl on her own, I think I am boring them.

This is usually confirmed when they slowly start to ignore me.

I am not sure what I am supposed to say in order not too.

I'll open, and say something like ''you guys look like yuo're having fun. I wanted to meet you''

I know that I am supposed to make statements and not just fire questions at them, but i'm not sure how to avoid boring them.

Last night there was a group of girls. I opened with the above line. They didn't really respond, but I had their attention.

I asked them what they were up too, and they just said ''Just having a few drinks''

Then I was like ''Where are you going later? Or are you staying here?''

She was like ''Not sure yet''

I said 'you look like you girls live here (I was out of town)

her: Yeah

me: I can tell! YOu dress different to the girls where i'm from.

NR REPLY. SILENCE

ME AGAIN: So you know all of the best places to go that only the locals know about!

her: Nahhhh

me: So i'm out with some old work mates. We're going to the ocean club later. You been there?

girl: Yeah

Me: You like it?

girl: It's OK

At this point I found myself struggling as to what to say next. Also feeling like I was ruining their night and boring them, so I gave up.

I'm thinking:

1/Was this my fault? I.E - I was boring? IF SO, what short of questions/statements should I have made? What are the firts 5 or so quetsions/statements I should make in order to have a fun conversation and get them laughing and playing along?

2/I tend to get this issue more when I approach groups for some reason.

3/Or is this just a matter of it being impossible to have a fun conversation if the other person is giving you nothing back and doesn't want to talk?
