Many pickup advice websites say that acting "hot and cold" when picking up girls, e.g. by deliberately being unresponsive to their flirtation to some extent and by not worrying too much about other guys because you know they're no threat, demonstrates confidence and a lack of neediness. Because I unfortunately have high standards that I cannot lower, any girl that I would be interested in would have so many other options that the idea of her continuing to flirt with a short, unattractive boy like me rather than immediately jumping ship as soon as I stop acting interested or actively fending off competitors seems totally illogical. Am I missing something here, and if so, what is the proper way to use disinterest to my advantage?
