You need to tell him. I’d probably tell him over the phone because you’re very likely in physical danger at that moment (and perhaps in the future).
You need to do some serious work on yourself - therapy, self discovery (go on a solo trip, somewhere out of your comfort zone, and really think about WHY you did this).
Do not rationalize this under any circumstances. We, as humans, tend to want to find ways out of the uncomfortability of “I did a horrible thing”. This can manifest itself through avoidance, or often leaning into it with things like “well their marriage must have been terrible if she banged me” or “we weren’t that good of friends, he was a dick to me sometimes”, anything. You need to stare yourself straight in the face and really acknowledge something in you is broken and needs to be fixed - because there is no other explanation (“rationalization”) for doing something like that.
