This has to do with the whole, "Let's teach our sons not to rape people," subject. How about we teach our girls what rape actually is, and what it can do to someone's life? Now, this can be just petty, but it just struck a bone.

Some background information before I start: My friend is an EA (Educational Assistant) and works at an elementary school. Today while she was lunch monitoring, she had a girl who was in grade 4 or 5 come up to her, telling her that another girl kept saying the 'r' word.

The little girl described the 'r' word as a swear word, which confused my friend because there are no swear words that she could think of that started with the letter r. So, she asked her what it was.

"Rape." She whispered to her. The girl told her that every time someone touched her, she would yell out, "Rape," and, "You're a rapist!"

Like I said, this could be just a petty thing as they're only grades 4-5, but this is also the age when you begin to teach them about this kind of stuff. Instead of teaching our sons, "Not to rape people," we should be teaching our daughters that they shouldn't be yelling out rape whenever someone touches their shoulder (and other stuff such as regret sex).

If I ever heard my kid yelling rape, I would explain to them how extreme the word is. Now, imagine if this little girl grows up with the same mindset. She could destroy someone's life; what are people going to do when there is this girl screaming rape and calling a person a rapist?

Like I said, all of this could just be petty, but it struck a nerve and I had to get it out.
