Whenever I see things like this, I have to ponder the one single question that invariably pops up: so what?

Let's assume that scantily clad women are viewed by men as objects. Let's assume that this causes them to lack a human connection to that person. Let's assume that the man in question sees that woman as only someone/thing to have sex with.

All of these things are part of a person's internal dialog and are sacrosanct. They are, in essence, thought crimes to those that oppose the idea of people's immediate thoughts, prevailing attitudes, and choices of actions, being separate.

The feminist version of "objectification" is so terribly fallacious and so wide spread that we need some kind of mantra to beat it back with. Objectification, and particularly the instrumentalist version of objectification, comes from Kant. His basic idea is that it is bad if you use someone instrumentally in such a way as to injure their needs as a human being (in Kantanese: people as ends takes priority over their use as means). The part which requires an injury to a person's ends, is essential because there is inherently nothing wrong with using a person instrumentally; you go to the butcher and use the butcher to cut your meat, no problem. Literally, human society depends on instrumentalization for survival. Using your butcher's services only becomes a problem when you are ignoring the fact that he his having a heart attack while you insist that he cut your meat faster. His life is an end to him that you must not endanger in order to enjoy him instrumentally. This is Kant's ethical imperative.

So... bikinis. Certainly, if a bikinied woman is lying on the ground bleeding to death and you ignore that fact in order to enjoy the way she looks in the bikini, we have an ethical problem on our hands. But if you are merely looking at a perfectly safe and healthy bikinied women, wondering how she might serve you sexually, then there is no ethical dilemma. Carry on.

So, you might wonder, how did Feminists get the idea that ANY instrumentalization of a women is unethical? Because, they say, any moment a man spends using a women instrumentally while she is oppressed by the patriarchy, is a moment in which she as an end in herself, is suffering for the sake of his means. If it's not readily obvious why this is nonsense (even if we assume Patriarchy is actually a thing in the first place), notice that under this doctrine, if my butcher is female, I am objectifying her if I buy meat from her. Taken to it's logical conclusions, feminist objectification doctrine makes it immoral for women to work. Yes... it's THAT ridiculous.

So... how do we say that less than 10 words?

I actually found this quite interesting and you can't fault someone who is using evidence to reach their conclusions unless you can demonstrate that there is a flaw in the process somewhere, and preferably provide evidence for an alternative conclusion. However it would be good to have results from a study with roles reversed as a comparison.

It should be common knowledge that if you dress to look sexy then people will tend to think about you in a sexual way (may depend on attractiveness). If you want to be taken seriously for your thoughts instead of your body, then you should dress accordingly. In many workplaces the men would not be taken seriously unless they are wearing a suit.
