Yep. Definitely doesn't reduce the risk of getting an STi. I want one as my next car.

I'm glad these studies are being done but honestly I think this is the wrong tack to get MGM made illegal.

If it could be shown that FGM reduces a woman's chance for contracting STDs significantly (hypothetically, this isn't the case) it would still be horrific because it is a crime against her bodily integrity done without her consent.

Arguing health/sanitary factors just allows the conversation to be drawn off on many tangents that can get muddied with conflicting studies and anecdotes.

It should be "bodily autonomy, right to choose" every single time. The reason health, cleanliness and tradition are brought up so often by supporters is that they literally have nothing to counter that first point.

That's why we need to keep hammering that point home. Never let them forget that they are arguing for mutilating a child without his consent.
