Seriously, if this bullshit drops standards of engineering just accommodate women, you're going to be hearing about a bunch of exploding plants, collapsing bridges, and corporations complaining about not finding qualified engineers.

Here's the thing though, if we get a bunch of shitty women's basketball players who aren't as good as male basketball players what happens? People get bored, demand their tickets be refunded. Um. . . empty seats. That sort of thing.

If we get a bunch of shitty women doctors, engineers, and physicists who aren't as good as the males they displaced what happens? US economy stagnates, real talent flees, people could actually die on the operating table or from collapsed bridges or reactors leaks.

It's one thing to screw around with athletics to punish men but when you go after STEM you could do some real harm.

This kind of stuff terrifies me. Obama already directed the vast majority of the stimulus money to women even though men lost the vast majority of jobs in the recession.

Now he is basically planning to destroy America's science education for a special interest group? Scary.

This is just a President pandering to a large percentage of the vote. Especially since the Democrats are saying that the Republicans are having a "war on women." This perfect fits their theme.

There are a finite number of seats available in universities. In order to have more women, you have to eliminate men who are qualified and interested. If those women were equally or more qualified and interested, they would have the seats now. So it follows that to promote women, it must be done by excluding more qualified and ambitious men. In other words, men have to be punished.

Ok, this article was from 2009 though. I'm not American, and the first time I heard about Title IX I was genuinely suprised that affirmative action would go that far. I can understand scholarships, campaigns and incentives, but quotas is a another ballgame. One played by girls apparantly.
