My wife is a physician. I'm a stay at home dad. We have a strong marriage, but I can't tell you how many women ask her why she's with me, based solely on the information I just gave you.

They're framing it as "bad" relationships, which is ... interesting.

If you compare all the different strands of data, you see that arranged marriages are the most happy marriages. People in that situation realize that they have to work at being happy. In other sorts of marriages - ones in which people have more choice, and can have as many chances as they want - unhappiness is accredited to, among other things, the spouse. I don't think it's a stretch to suppose that rich women and rich men more regularly divorce because they have more options, so they're not forced to work at the marriage they already have. Their partners are disposable.

In other words, it's not just rich women.

Of course, if this were a man, he wouldn't be so positively described.

Edit: ErasmusMRA's new youtube vid prompted this addendum. I wonder if he's not giving too much weight to hypergamy. A super-rich woman can't reasonably expect to find another, even richer man than the one she divorces.

I think gender lessons might be a bit at play here: men know to expect, from a really young age, that marriage isn't that great, so they're more prepared for it, while women are told that it's supposed to be chocolates and roses. This will logically lead to disillusionment and disappointment on the part of the wife.

Also, women live in a reality of entitlement in every other sphere of their lives. If I want it, I get it. Except, your husband isn't going to be better in bed, or have a bigger dick, or make more money, or be more romantic just because you will it. Here, feminists have set women up to fail.

Yeah, that's rather strange. AskMen is... well, I'll admit it, slightly to the sexist-against-women side. But this article is straight in the sexist-against-men square. It just feels so... out of place.

Did AskMen change in the last year or so? Or is it just me? Eh, maybe it's just an odd article.

Oh, but the statistic itself is very interesting. 40% is a huge figure. And it's hugely important, because we all know it's because of people feeling they can get a man who's more about the money - which is exactly what marriages shouldn't be about. ...unless anyone else has a different theory.

Doesn't surprise me, woman don't like to admit it, but they are still searching/hunting for "THE MEN!"

Womans social status has risen sky high in the last few decades, but they are still searching for a mate that is of a higher status which leaves fewer and fewer males able to pass these standards and more and more woman without a suitable mate.

Adjustment will occur over the next few decades, ending in the death of the typical male provider role.

Every time a woman is mentioned in an article the words "Strong" and "Independent" are always used. It means nothing. I just can't figure out why women don't get offended by the blatant pandering.

Women have become stronger because of Christina Aguilera and Destiny's Child??? Please...If you believe this then do you also believe that Marilyn Manson and Grand Theft Auto make men more likely to become serial killers? These arguments are both ridiculous and are based on no evidence whatsoever. This is bad reporting based on false reasoning.

As for the title-AskMen does not 'praise women with higher incomes being more than 40% likely to divorce'; it merely states (poorly and incorrectly) that 'women who listen to Christina Aguilera and Destiny's child are Stronger, More Independent and More Likely to Bounce Back from Bad Relationships'. (And by 'bad relationships I'm assuming they're talking about more of a Rihanna situation).

This looks like it deals with women who make MORE than their spouse. If they wanna be independent, who's to stop them? Women should not depend on men for financial sustainments, and this article supports that idea.
