I'm seriously disgusted right now. Reading reddit I see comments like this one:

Shower, wash hair, shave privates, scrub skin, exfoliate, wash face with cleanser, dry off, apply leave-in conditioner, shave face, style hair, moisturize, decide on clothes, put on clothes, chose and put on cologne, change something about clothes, brush teeth, floss, use toilet, chose watch, chose shoes, chose belt. I probably forgot a few things. Chances are I'll change my mind on two or three clothing/accessory/stylistic choices at some point. I'm far from typical. Men like me are rare. But I have met others. We exist, and we don't relate with OP.

Ohhh, so you're gay.

Why must gay men be good looking and nice smelling? Why must straight men be smelly troglodytes?

We've got communities like /r/gaybros who probably don't fit their stereotype. We've got straight men on /r/malefashionadvice who don't fit their stereotype.

Why do we allow ourselves to be stereotyped like this? No one likes to be stereotyped! Why have we accepted these at face value? Why do we still allow other people to define how we must behave to be our own 'brand' of men?

Comments like this should outrage every man. All men should be angry that their choices, their options, their personal identity as a man, is being boxed in and that we're being told by others how we must behave. They should be annoyed and upset that their fellow brethren are being told how they must act.

Feminists fought very hard to allow the choices of women to not be questioned, to allow women to define their own identity as women. As much as I hate to admit it, we need to be fighting for the same right for us, as men.
