So...

I was walking home after a nice beer dinner, nice 9 course dinner with matching beers, so I'd had a few under my belt. I am a happy drunk and do not seek confrontation with anyone... usually.

It has been a long week for me so far - I have spent the week doing disaster recovery on our servers the last 4 days so have been a bit stressed out about that too.

Anyways, I decide that I have had enough to drink and decide to walk the 15 mins home. Not more than 100m from leaving the pub, one of the local bogans decides to call me a faggot.

Now I am a cis gendered male i guess, with slightly queer sort of style, nikes with pink swoosh etc. nothing too full on though, especially in this day and age.

But having been reading some MR and feminist stuff the last few days, this really got to me, so I turned around and asked the guy what he said. He replied that I heard him the first time. I then said: no I was merely trying to walk home, and that if he had something to say, he should say it.

TBH around this time I lost my shit, put on my crazy eyes and said something along the lines of calling him a part of the female anatomy, and also insulted his intelligence and ability to fight.

Around this point he realized his friend was no longer with him, and that there was a semi-drunk guy who was definitely not as feminine as he first thought, about to punch him in the face.

Why, why, why? I feel like the biggest thing holding us back is ourselves (men), why is this behavior tolerated at all? I know violence is never the answer except in self defense - but how do you deal with situations such as these? Especially when you see reasoning will not accomplish anything?

edit spelling yo, i've had a few
