If two people want to have sex, the government should not be coming in and deciding the validity and morality of their decision. It's incredibly fucked up to me the more I think about it. I always think back to when I turned 18. Every time I thought about the girls a couple years younger than me, I always thought that if I had sex with them and got caught, I could be sent to some prison where I would be raped for the next fifteen years while society thinks I got what I deserved. While I think it's great that she didn't go to prison, I absolutely hate the double standard. No one should go to prison for a crime that had no victim.

Okay I just did a quick look over by Kentucky law. Even if she was thrown the book, it would be nothing more than a class D felony.

The offence in question is not the age of consent, which is 16 in Kentucky, but her postion of abuse. This violation as a teacher is the action in mind.

So is it still messed up? A bit, but even the felony is a class D by my research, so she wouldn't even get that much time anyway.

He's 17, who the fuck cares. I doubt anyone here considered themselves a child at 17. I knew who I wanted to have sex with and who I didn't want to have sex with at that age.

In a way it's kind of wrong because she's an older woman taking advantage of a naive young man, but there are kids younger than him who fight wars and raise themselves, I think he'll be ok.

I don't care about the age gap. Personally I think Age of Consent should be abolished in favor of parental rights and the use of no-contact orders. What I do think should be a crime punishable with a few years in jail is the abuse of power. I don't care if it's a doctor, cop, or teacher, you just don't do this sort of thing.

I don't really have a problem with teens having sex with much older people. My mother and many female friends of mine had sex with men in their late 20's and early 30's when they were 14-16. They turned out fine and were certainly not raped in any moral sense.

I do however have a problem with a teacher having sex with a student. This is not promoting a great learning environment. So my view is that in an ideal legal system she should be fired but not face any criminal penalties.

The problem is how we think about consent. If he had struck her, would he be tried as an adult? If so, then I see no problem.

However, that goes for girls in the same position.

She's a cheerleader. Their main job is to show off their bodies. I having trouble seeing wrong here.
