It's nice to try, but please don't go there thinking you'll be able to save someone by shilling out the tired "people care about you" "It's not all hopeless" and all the rest of the painfully useless and overused phrases you can think of. If you go there, shut up and listen.

It's so infuriating when you're trying to pour your heart out, and people reply to you without really understanding with just "hmm go for a jog it'll clear your head" or "maybe you should talk to a specialist" You fucking idiot! if I could you think I'd be here online to do that??? What all that does is adding desires of murder to those of suicide.

r/mensrights is also a victim support forum, you can do much the same here, with the advantage of being on the same page, rather than trying to decode an individuals narrative.

I'm not saying don't go there, I'm just saying you can help people here too.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit I've contemplated 'checking out' before and currently still find myself taking silly risks when simple things like crossing the road amidst heavy traffic. Not caring about the outcome - it is a weird state of mind to be in but I've seen it amongst my peers as well.

What do you mean, just post there and try to talk to people, talk them out of suicide? Is that sub for men only?
